Incredible Speed:

100 Transfer Students Processed in 17 Hours by One Counselor

November 29, 2010

A college asked us to demonstrate that our system truly is the fastest degree auditing system of its kind. They sent 100 adult learners with transfer courses, military training and college exams to consider.

demoIn only 17 hours time, every one of the students were accurately processed, with educational assessments and degree plans created for the college, all done by one counselor.

Is there a limit to how many students can be supported?

  • The sky is the limit, as our systems are designed to support millions of students. We could try and explain that when we redesigned the system from its first version to its second version, we replaced the logically sequential 8-digit application identification codes assigned to college credit in the background with 16-digit global unique identifier codes that que off the bios system and time stamp of the user, thereby greatly enhancing the functionality of the system. (Also, keep in mind, we have made even more enhancements over the years and are already on our fourth generation of automated degree planning systems.) We could go on to explain the inner workings that make this system have essentially no limits to the number of students served, but you get the message: If you measure your students by the hundreds or by the hundreds of thousands, our system can handle them

What programming language is used in our systems?

  • There is no single answer to the question. You see, the system is not designed with a single programming language, but with multiple languages that work together in synergy, with the system shifting from one language to another as the user progresses from one aspect of student processing to another. The beauty of it is that we have been able to accomplish what most would consider to be "the impossible" - we know, because, since 2003, some of the largest computer corporations in the world have attempted to replicate the functionality that our system makes possible, but have had no success. You really do not need to be concerned with the languages that the systems are written in, as the fact is simply this: The systems work beautifully over the past decade and have already been used to create more than 400,000 comprehensive educational assessments and degree plans for students across the nation.

What is the down-time history of our systems?

  • The quality of the design of decision support and student support systems such as ours is directly related to the up-time to down-time ratio. As for down-time, our systems have a fraction of one percent down time per year reported by the colleges and universities and government agencies using our systems to support students nationwide. If the system were only used occasionally, that would be an insignificant accomplishment, but that is not the case with our systems. In fact, our systems are used every working day of the year by the clients that we serve, with thousands of students being supported each month. As such, our up-time is phenomenal and our down-time is minimal. It is important to us that the clients that we serve be able to support their students day-in and day-out, without having to worry about the system crashing.

How soon can we have a system ready for your college or university?

  • Typically, we can have a custom-made system ready to install within two weeks of signing a contract with your college or university for a single-institution version. To support consortiums and state higher education systems, we can typically create multi-institutional systems in four to six weeks time. Of course, this is based on receipt of the information that we need from the colleges and universities, such as curricula information, course descriptions, academic policies, and more.

How much does our system cost?

  • Our system is not OTS software - in other words, off the shelf, canned software that uses a one-shoe fits all approach to student processing. The system is custom-made for each college or university supported. As such, we will build into the system every degree offered by the college or university, as well as every course that they offer, embedding the multi-leveled academic codes to make the system work the way it does. The number of degrees that we have built into systems for colleges desiring our support has varied from a few dozen to several hundred degrees. Although we will not know exactly how much it will cost for your college or university until you ask, we are certain that you will find our cost to be considerably less than that of other systems that claim to provide degree articulation support, yet our system is far more robust and has greater functionality than the others. Ask us to provide you with a proposal - You'll be amazed at how affordable our system can be.

What about routine maintenance, data updates, and troubleshooting costs?

  • The first year after we initially install the system on campus, routine maintenance, data updates, and troubleshooting and repair is free of cost. For a small annual fee thereafter, our support is provided for the second and subsequent years. For this small fee, our staff will enter thousands of pages of data into the system to keep it up-to-date, revise your degree plans to reflect any changes in curricula made by your college, and, if necessary, perform troubleshooting and repair without delay so that your system continues to serve your students with minimal disruption.
